What we do on a startup visit
We start at the main water supply valve and bring the system up from there. Next we go to the backflow preventer and check it at the test cocks. If your system has a rain sensor, we check that it functions, so a wet week doesn't leave the sprinklers running. Then we program the controller for a spring watering schedule instead of leaving it on whatever was set last year. Anything that needs its own repair gets reported to you separately, so the startup stays a startup and you decide what to fix and when.
Winter and the exposed parts
Winter lows in Denton average near freezing, so anything above ground, especially the backflow assembly, needs protection before the cold arrives. If yours went through winter bare, startup is when we find out whether it came through intact. If you'd rather not repeat the question next spring, protect it in the fall.

After a hailstorm
Denton has had hail as big as softballs, with damage reported at thousands of homes. Controllers and other equipment that sit outside take impact damage too, and it can be easy to miss. If a severe storm has come through since the last time the system ran, tell us when you book. We look over the exposed controls and equipment and include any damage in what we report back.
What a startup costs
Spring startups typically run $75 to $150, depending on the size of the system and how many zones it has. We can give you that typical range on the phone, and we confirm the exact number once we've seen your system. A problem that needs separate repair is quoted separately from the startup.
Pricing Ranges
These are typical local ranges for this kind of work, and we'll tell you which end of the range yours is likely to sit at.

How It Works
Broken down, the specifics look like this:
- Walk each running zone to check head pop-up height, rotation, spray pattern, coverage, and visible leaks.
- Clear debris from clogged nozzles and adjust sprinkler spray patterns for the intended coverage.
