What decides whether a repair is a claim or a maintenance bill
Policies differ on how they treat sudden damage versus wear, so your agent or your policy language is the place to get a firm answer. What we control is the diagnosis, and the cause is what the carrier will ask about.
A sprinkler problem usually traces to one of a few things. Freeze damage is water left in the lines over winter, cracking fittings, valves or the backflow assembly. A zone that won't come on may be a failed electric zone valve or solenoid, or a controller problem. A head that sprays wrong has either worn out, been hit, or is getting bad pressure. When we chase weak or uneven spray, we measure static and operating pressure instead of guessing. We tell you which of these it is, in plain words, on the quote.
A wet spot in the yard is not always a leak. The soil here is well drained at the surface but slow to pass water through, so a lawn can look fine on top while water moves slowly underneath. We check for pooling before anyone raises run times, and we confirm a leak before we quote a leak repair.
Cost against your deductible
A pipe leak repair runs $120 to $400. Controller repair or replacement runs $100 to $500. Where you land in each range depends on how deep and how hard to reach the damage is. We can give you the typical range on the phone, and we confirm the exact number once we have seen the job.
If the quote is near or under your deductible, a claim may not leave you ahead, and that is worth weighing against what a claim could do to your record with the carrier. Ask your agent about that part. If the damage is larger, such as a ruptured main or several zones down at once, the numbers change and a claim becomes a more reasonable conversation.

The paperwork we can give you
Our written quote says what we found, where, and what we are repairing, so you have something concrete to hand an adjuster. Before we arrive, take dated photos of the damage and the area around it, and dig out any record that the system was winterized. Those two things answer most of the questions a carrier asks about timing and upkeep.
If your repair falls under that, we handle the permit as part of the job, so the work is on record and not just in your yard.
If you are trying to decide between filing and paying, call us first. We will look at the damage, explain the cause, and give you a written price so you are deciding with real numbers.
What It Typically Costs

Our Process
In detail, this is what gets done:
- When replacing a head, select a nozzle suited to the application and adjust the spray pattern, then run the zone to verify coverage.
